This article applies to South-Tek Systems industrial N2GEN-FLEX series PSA nitrogen generators.
Proper installation is required to ensure safe operation, reliable nitrogen production, and access for future maintenance. This article outlines the basic installation expectations for N2GEN-FLEX systems after the unit has been received and moved into position.
Before installation
Before installing the generator, confirm that the site meets all published environmental, utility, and clearance requirements. The system should only be installed by trained personnel, and all electrical work should be reviewed by a qualified electrician.
Positioning the skid
- Install the system on a flat, stable surface suitable for the skid load.
- The installed unit should be no more than 5° off level.
- Maintain at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides of the skid.
- Keep the area reasonably clear of dust and debris.
- Bolt holes are provided on the skid base if anchoring is desired or required by the installation site.
- Floor mounting is optional unless site conditions or local code require it.
Utility connection review
Before energizing the system, confirm that all utility connections have been completed correctly and that the generator has been installed in accordance with the published site and utility requirements.
- Verify incoming power matches the unit requirements.
- Verify the compressed air connection is complete and leak free.
- Verify the nitrogen outlet connection is complete and properly routed.
- Verify any condensate drain or related utility connections are installed as required for the specific system.
Electrical installation
- Power requirement: 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single phase, 2.1A max
- Electrical connections should be made or reviewed by an electrician authorized to work in the installation jurisdiction.
- Do not attempt to operate the system until electrical installation has been verified.
Compressed air and environment
- Air supplied to the generator must comply with ISO 8573-1, Class 1.4.1.
- Ambient operating temperature must remain between 40°F and 90°F (4.44°C to 32.2°C).
- Performance derating applies above 90°F.
- The generator must be installed in a properly ventilated area.
Installation checks before startup
- Confirm the E-Stop is released.
- Confirm the PLC screen powers on correctly.
- Confirm all utility connections are secure and leak free.
- Confirm the installation area is safe, clean, and ventilated.
- Confirm the system has not been adjusted from its factory settings.
Commissioning requirement
Prior to operation, contact South-Tek Systems Service to schedule virtual training or on-site commissioning. The system is factory tuned to perform as specified and should not be adjusted without guidance from South-Tek Systems.
Important operating note
After the system is turned off from the touchscreen, it must not be restarted until the programmed shutdown delay has cleared. This helps prevent rapid cycling and protects system components.
What not to adjust during installation
Do not adjust valves, regulators, analyzer settings, or PLC settings during installation unless specifically directed by South-Tek Systems. Unauthorized changes may affect system performance and startup readiness.
