This article applies to South-Tek Systems N2-BLAST FPS-1650, FPS-3250, and FPS-5000 fire protection nitrogen generators.
The FPS-1650, FPS-3250, and FPS-5000 are fire protection nitrogen generators designed to introduce nitrogen into dry and pre-action sprinkler piping to help reduce corrosion. These models are part of the South-Tek N2-BLAST product family and are intended specifically for fire protection applications.
Supported models
- FPS-1650
- FPS-3250
- FPS-5000
What these systems have in common
The FPS-1650, FPS-3250, and FPS-5000 share the same general operating platform and control structure.
- Cabinet-style fire protection nitrogen generator design
- PLC-based controls with touchscreen interface
- Integrated air filtration
- Nitrogen storage tank
- Automatic cut-in and cut-out pressure control
- Alarm and status monitoring
- Sensor logging and graphing functions
- Optional BlastOff leak detection
- Indoor nonhazardous installation
Key differences within this model family
- FPS-1650: Includes an integrated air compressor.
- FPS-3250 and FPS-5000: Require an external air supply that meets the system design requirements.
Typical installation profile
These models are designed for indoor installation in a nonhazardous area. They should be installed in a location that allows access for maintenance, troubleshooting, and piping connections, while minimizing unnecessary pressure drop.
The systems are larger than the wall-mounted FPS-500 and FPS-900 models and use a cabinet/floor-mounted arrangement.
Utility profile
- 120 to 240 VAC / 50-60 Hz / 1 phase power
- FPS-1650 draws less than 8 amps
- FPS-3250 and FPS-5000 draw less than 5 amps
- Built-in 20A over-current protection device
- Hard-wired electrical connection required
- Power cords are not included
- UL 508A ICP certification
Air supply notes
- FPS-1650: Includes integrated compressor and acceptable air filtration.
- FPS-3250 and FPS-5000: Require incoming air between 40°F and 100°F with water dew point below 40°F.
- FPS-3250 and FPS-5000: Incoming air pressure is typically 100 to 125 PSIG unless otherwise configured.
Before choosing a manual or procedure
Confirm the exact model number on the unit nameplate before following a procedure or ordering service parts. While these models share a common platform, they are not identical, and the air supply requirements differ between the FPS-1650 and the larger FPS-3250/FPS-5000 units.
