Analyzers should be verified annually using a certified test gas. These gases are available in various concentrations—10 PPM, 100 PPM, 1%, etc.—and the appropriate type depends on your analyzer model and the required purity specification of your system.
The test gas is supplied in a 1-liter pressurized cylinder, which typically lasts for several years under normal use. A special regulator is required to connect the cylinder to your generator’s sample line.
To perform the verification:
-
Connect the regulator to the test gas cylinder and attach it to the sample line.
-
Open the regulator to allow gas flow.
-
Wait approximately 10 minutes for the reading on your PLC display to stabilize.
-
Confirm that the displayed value matches the concentration of the test gas.
-
If the values match, your analyzer is functioning correctly.
-
If there is a discrepancy, the fuel cell in the analyzer likely needs to be replaced.
