System Leak Check Procedure

 

1. Pressurize the System While Isolated

   • Close the valves between your N₂ storage tank and the end-use process, as well as any sample return lines to the cabinet analyzer (if equipped).

   • This isolates the generator system and allows for accurate pressure monitoring.

2. Allow the System to Build Pressure

   • The system will continue to build pressure until it reaches standby mode.

3. Monitor for Pressure Drop

   • Once in standby, observe the tank pressure. It should remain stable.

   • If pressure begins to drop or the unit struggles to reach standby, proceed with a leak test.

4. Conduct a Leak Test

   • Spray soapy water on all accessible fittings and filter bowls.

   • Look for bubbles, which indicate a leak.

   • Avoid spraying electrical components inside the cabinet.

5. Addressing Leaks

   • NPT fittings: Try tightening. If leaks persist, remove the fitting and reapply pipe thread sealant or tape, then reinstall.

   • Push-to-connect fittings:

     • First, push the poly tubing firmly into the fitting to see if the leak stops.

     • If it continues, cut a few centimeters off the end of the tubing and reinsert it fully into the fitting.
