Applies to: STS Series (5–30HP) · STSH Series · STSD · STSP · STSP2
▲ Attention — Intervals Vary by Model Service intervals differ across model families. Use the correct interval for your specific model. Whichever threshold (hours or calendar time) is reached first triggers the service.
Service Intervals by Model
| Model Family | Oil Change Interval | Oil Filter Change Interval |
|---|---|---|
| STS (5–30HP) | Every 8,000 hours or 12 months | Every 2,000 hours or 6 months |
| STSH | Every 2,000 hours or 6 months | Every 2,000 hours or 6 months |

⚠ Warning Always use the correct original oil for your unit as indicated on the compressor label. Do not mix brands or types. Mixing causes precipitation, resinification, dangerous clogging, and bearing damage. Contaminated oil remaining in the system shortens the service life of new oil — always perform a complete drain.
Shutdown & Depressurization
- Stop the compressor by pressing the STOP button.
- Close the air outlet valve.
- De-energize the compressor at the main disconnect.
- Wait for the separator tank to depressurize automatically.
- Loosen the oil filler plug 1–2 turns (do not remove) to fully vent any remaining pressure in the separator tank.
- Allow the compressor to cool to a safe temperature before handling oil.
Oil Drain Procedure
- Locate the oil discharge valve at the bottom of the separator tank.
- Remove the drain plug from the discharge valve. Attach the 1/2" needle hose supplied with the compressor to the discharge valve tip. Place the hose end into an appropriate oil collection container.
- Open the discharge valve lever and drain all oil.
- Repeat for any additional oil discharge points in the oil circuit.
- Confirm all oil has been removed from the separator tank, oil circuit piping, and oil cooler.
- Close all discharge valves and reinstall and tighten drain plugs.
- Dispose of used oil in accordance with local environmental regulations.
Oil Filter Replacement
- Use a suitable filter wrench to remove the oil filter.
- Clean the filter gasket seat with a clean cloth.
- Pre-fill the new oil filter with clean oil and allow it to saturate — repeat the fill-drain cycle several times until the filter element is fully saturated.
- Lightly lubricate the gasket of the new filter with clean oil.
- Thread the filter on by hand until the gasket seats, then tighten firmly by hand. Do not use a wrench to tighten.
- Dispose of the used filter per local environmental regulations.
Oil Fill Procedure
- Remove the oil filler plug from the separator tank.
- Using a clean funnel, fill new oil to the upper limit of the oil level sight glass. Ensure no contamination enters the system.
- Replace the oil filler plug O-ring and tighten the plug.
- Remove the suction hose from the suction control valve, open the suction flap, and add 1–5 liters of oil (depending on airend size) into the airend inlet. Rotate the airend 1–2 turns by hand to distribute oil to the rotor pockets and bearings. Reinstall and clamp the suction hose.
- Energize the compressor and run it under load for several minutes.
- Stop the compressor and wait several minutes for oil to settle.
- Recheck the sight glass. If level is low: loosen the filler plug 1–2 turns to vent, add the required amount of oil, and retighten.
ℹ Note Oil, oil filter elements, air filter elements, and separator elements are consumables. They are not covered under warranty and are the operator's responsibility to replace at the specified intervals.
