This article applies to South-Tek Systems industrial N2-GEN TS, CS, and S series PSA nitrogen generators.
Use this article to guide initial receiving, unpacking, movement, and storage of the generator before installation. Proper handling is important to avoid damage to the equipment and internal components.
Receiving the equipment
Inspect the shipment immediately upon delivery to confirm the equipment arrived in good condition.
- Check for visible shipping damage before moving or unpacking the equipment.
- Compare the received equipment and loose items against the packing list.
- Save the packaging material in case it is needed for a shipping damage claim or future return shipment.
- If damage is found, notify the carrier immediately.
- When contacting South-Tek Systems, include the generator model number and serial number.
General handling precautions
- Use only properly rated forklifts, cranes, lifting devices, and rigging equipment.
- Avoid heavy impacts, jolting motions, or rough handling.
- Move the generator carefully to avoid damaging internal screens, vessels, controls, and fittings.
- Once the unit is in its final position, secure it in accordance with local and site anchoring requirements.
TS and CS series unpacking and movement
TS and CS series generators are typically bolted upright inside a wooden crate.
- Open the crate from the side marked open this side.
- Unbolt the generator from the bottom of the crate.
- Insert forklift forks through the open fork slots in the skid.
- Slowly back the unit out of the crate.
- Move the generator carefully to its final location.
S series unpacking and movement
S series generators are commonly shipped lying down on a truck or flatbed unless otherwise noted in the customer drawings package.
- Use a crane or forklift rated for the load to remove the unit from the truck.
- Use the designated lifting points, including the welded gusset between the twin vessels and the fork holes in the skid.
- After unloading, lay the unit horizontally on flat ground.
- Remove the shipping straps and re-strap at the uppermost gusset for upright lifting.
- Lift slowly and carefully to bring the unit upright. Avoid jolting or impact.
- Once upright, guide the forklift forks through the lifting holes in the skid.
- Slightly raise the skid and carefully move the generator to its final location.
Important: Rough or sudden movement may damage internal screens and components.
Storage requirements
If the generator will not be installed immediately, store it in a safe, dry location, preferably indoors in a controlled environment.
- Protect the unit from moisture, falling objects, and other physical damage.
- Place desiccant packets inside the electrical cabinet to help protect electronics from moisture.
- Do not store the generator near moving equipment or objects that could strike the unit.
Extended storage
If the generator will remain in storage for more than 1 month and is equipped with an oxygen analyzer, remove the oxygen fuel cell or analyzer, tape it off, and store it separately in a controlled environment.
Before installation after storage
- Inspect the unit for visible damage or moisture intrusion.
- Inspect all loose items and accessories.
- Confirm the electrical cabinet is dry and clean before energizing the unit.
- Reinstall any removed analyzer components as required before startup.
