Applies to: N2-GEN TS, CS, and S Series PSA nitrogen generators
This article gives the step-by-step procedure for installing the nitrogen generator and connecting it to the rest of the package. Installation should be performed by qualified personnel, working from the customer drawings shipped with your system.
ℹ Note — Work from your drawings Your documentation package includes a "General Arrangement Drawing" showing the designed layout for your specific package, which may combine an air compressor, air dryer, air cooler, air receiver tank, air filtration, the nitrogen generator, a nitrogen storage tank, and/or a nitrogen booster. If tank accessories are included, refer to the "Detail Tank Drawings." Connection plumbing between components is not supplied as standard, and final pipe sizing is determined by the local pipe contractor.
Installation steps
- Unload and unpack the generator following the procedure in the Receiving, Unpacking & Storage article.
- Position the generator in an area that meets the Site & Utility Requirements. Lift carefully to avoid damaging components.
- Review your General Arrangement Drawing for the layout specific to your package.
- Carefully lift and position the equipment to suit site conditions, using lifting and strapping devices rated for the load. Locate the nitrogen storage tank as close to the generator as possible; consult South-Tek if it must be more than 50 feet away.
- Install the other equipment in the package (for example, the air compressor and refrigerant dryer) per each manufacturer's instructions, and complete the connecting plumbing between components as shown on the General Arrangement Drawing.
- Follow local codes when installing tank accessories such as safety relief valves, gauges, and isolation valves. Refer to the Detail Tank Drawings if accessories are included.
- Visually inspect all tanks and pipes for moisture and debris before installation. The installer is responsible for blowing down tanks before completing the plumbing.
- Have a qualified electrician confirm the available power and complete all electrical connections, connecting the generator to an approved electrical box at the correct voltage and frequency, and connecting other package equipment per each manufacturer's instructions. See Site & Utility Requirements for electrical specifications.
- Check all fittings and piping/hose connections for pressure leaks.
ℹ Note — Rigging Attach lifting and rigging devices carefully to limit heavy impacts and jolting motions, which can damage internal components and material.
⚠ Warning Use only materials with a compatible pressure rating on the product pipe lines.
Once installation is complete and all connections are leak-checked, proceed to the Start-Up & Shutdown procedure to bring the system online.
