Applies to: All South-Tek PSA nitrogen generators equipped with an oxygen analyzer
Verifying your analyzer confirms it is reading correctly against a known gas. This is different from calibration, which sets the analyzer; to set or reset the analyzer, see Analyzer Calibration. Verify the analyzer at least once a year, and any time purity readings look inconsistent with expected performance.

What you need
- Certified test gas in the correct concentration for your analyzer. Test gases come in various concentrations (for example 10 PPM, 100 PPM, or 1%), and the right one depends on your analyzer model and your system's required purity specification.
- A test gas cylinder. The gas is supplied in a 1-liter pressurized cylinder that typically lasts several years under normal use.
- A special regulator to connect the cylinder to your generator's sample line.

Verification procedure
- Connect the regulator to the test gas cylinder and attach it to the sample line.
- Open the regulator to allow gas to flow.
- Wait approximately 10 minutes for the reading on the controller display to stabilize.
- Confirm that the displayed value matches the concentration printed on the test gas cylinder.
- If the values match, the analyzer is functioning correctly.
- If there is a discrepancy, the fuel cell in the analyzer likely needs to be replaced. Typical fuel-cell life is 1–2 years.
If the reading does not match
If the displayed value does not match the test gas, work through these before returning the unit to service:
- Allow warm-up. After a cold start, give the analyzer 15–20 minutes to warm up before trusting the reading.
- Check the sample line. Inspect fittings and tubing for cracks or loose connections that could draw in ambient air.
- Recalibrate. If the analyzer still reads off, recalibrate it using the Analyzer Calibration procedure, then verify again.
- Replace the fuel cell. If calibration will not hold and the reading still does not match, the fuel cell has likely reached end of life and needs replacement. Contact our support team for a fuel cell, test gas, or a regulator.
