This article applies to South-Tek Systems industrial N2GEN-FLEX series PSA nitrogen generators.
The N2GEN-FLEX series uses a touchscreen HMI to display operating data, view alarms, review maintenance timers, and access user settings. This article provides a general overview of the main screens and what each one is used for.
Home screen
When the touchscreen powers on, it opens to the Home screen. From this screen, the operator can select the display language and continue to the main operating screens.
- Available languages: English, Spanish, and French
- Select the preferred language, then press Continue
Status screen
The Status screen is the main operating screen for the generator. It displays key live system values and includes the control used to turn the system on and off.
- Nitrogen pressure
- Nitrogen purity
- Flow rate
Depending on system configuration, additional values may also be shown, such as dew point, temperature, or cumulative flow.
Before starting the system, confirm that the E-Stop is released and that the touchscreen is active. After shutting the system down from the touchscreen, do not restart it until the programmed shutdown delay has cleared.
Maintenance screen
The Maintenance screen shows the main maintenance counters used to track system service intervals.
- Total running hours
- Time before next scheduled maintenance
- Filter usage
These values are used to help track routine preventive maintenance. Maintenance and filter counters should only be reset after the required service has been completed.
Alarm Record screen
The Alarm Record screen shows the date and time of recorded alarm events and includes reset functions for alarm-related counters.
Maintenance-related alarms should only be reset after service has been performed. If an alarm condition is active or repeats, do not clear it without first identifying the cause.
Current or Historical Curve screen
This screen shows trend graphs for the system’s key operating values. Depending on software version, it may be labeled Current Curve or Historical Curve.
- Purity trend
- Flow rate trend
- Pressure trend
This screen is useful for reviewing how the generator has been performing over time and for identifying changes in operating behavior.
Historical Data screen
The Historical Data screen displays stored operating records for pressure, purity, and flow rate.
The user can also set the data storage interval on this screen. This controls how frequently the system records operating data.
User Settings screen
The User Settings area contains system operating setpoints and timers. A user password is required to access this section.
- User password: 2588
The User Settings screens may include values such as:
- Shutdown delay
- Low pressure alarm setting
- Starting and stopping pressure
- Starting and stopping flow rate
- Purity alarm timing
- Purity discharge rate
- Maintenance and filter maintenance timers
- Date and time settings
Some communication and serial port fields are not used for normal operation and should not be changed. Start/Stop mode settings should also not be changed unless specifically directed by South-Tek Systems.
Standby mode settings
The N2GEN-FLEX system can be set to enter standby mode based on either tank pressure or flow rate, depending on how the system has been configured.
Standby control should be based on one method only. It should not be set to operate from both pressure and flow rate at the same time unless specifically directed by South-Tek Systems.
N2 Process screen
The N2 Process screen provides a live visual of the generator process flow. It shows which valves are open and the current gas flow path through the system.
This screen can be useful when reviewing normal cycling behavior during system operation.
Test screens
The Test screens are intended for authorized personnel only. These screens are used for factory-level settings such as timing sequence adjustments, analyzer selection, and calibration values.
A factory password is required to access these screens. Do not modify Test screen values unless specifically directed by South-Tek Systems.
Calibration note
Some systems allow calibration adjustments for purity, pressure, and flow rate. These values are intended to correct differences between the touchscreen display and the connected digital transducers or instruments.
Calibration values should only be adjusted by authorized personnel. Improper changes may affect displayed readings and system operation.
Important operating reminder
The system is factory tuned to perform as specified. Do not adjust valves, regulators, analyzer settings, calibration values, or PLC settings without consulting South-Tek Systems.
