This article covers the annual filter replacement procedure for the BrewBlast™ 40PPH and 70CPH. All filters must be replaced together using annual filter kit FRP-001. Replace annually or at 1,000 run hours, whichever comes first.
These models do not have an electronic filter alarm. Use the filter replacement schedule log on the face of the filter bracket to record each service date and track the next replacement interval.
Required Parts
| Part Number | Description |
|---|---|
| FRP-001 | Annual filter replacement kit — includes air pre-filter element, particulate filter element, coalescing filter element, and O-rings |
Tools and Materials
- Clean, dry cloths (minimum 2)
- Mild dish soap and warm water
- Compressed air gun (optional, for bowl cleaning)
- Approved kitchen cleaner (for NSF cabinet cleaning — see Proper Cleaning section)
- Annual filter kit FRP-001
Filters Covered by This Procedure
| Filter | Location | Function | Interval |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air pre-filter | Compressor air intake | Prevents particles from entering the compressor housing | 1 year or 1,000 hours |
| Particulate filter | Filter assembly after compressor | Captures larger particulate (5 micron) before entering the system | 1 year or 1,000 hours |
| Coalescing filter | Filter assembly after compressor | Captures moisture and fine particulate (0.1 micron) before entering the system | 1 year or 1,000 hours |
Procedure
Preparation
- Power down the unit using the power switch.
- Disconnect the unit from the electrical supply.
- Allow the system to fully depressurize before touching any filter components. Do not proceed until there is no residual pressure in the filter assembly.
- Remove the front cabinet cover to access the filter assembly.
Air Pre-Filter Replacement
- Locate the air pre-filter on the compressor air intake.
- Remove the filter cap by twisting it clockwise.
- Remove the old filter element and discard.
- Wipe the inside of the filter bowl with a clean, dry cloth to remove any accumulated dust or debris.
- Install the new air pre-filter element from kit FRP-001 and reinstall the cap.
Particulate and Coalescing Filter Replacement
- Disconnect the clear-blue drain tubes from the bottom of both filter bowls by pressing the release collar on each push-to-connect fitting and pulling the tube free.
- To remove each filter bowl:
- Turn the metal outer casing counter-clockwise until it unscrews completely from the filter housing.
- Once the metal casing is free, twist the blue plastic bowl slightly and pull it downward out of the housing.
- Inspect both bowls. If the auto-drain system is functioning correctly, the bowls should contain little or no standing water.
- To remove the particulate filter element:
- Pull the black plastic element holder out of the filter bowl.
- Twist the top and bottom halves of the holder counter-clockwise until they pull apart.
- Remove and discard the old element. Note the condition — if it is excessively dirty or heavily loaded, increase the replacement frequency to every 6 months.
- Install the new particulate element and reassemble the holder in reverse order.
- To remove the coalescing element:
- Turn the element counter-clockwise by hand until it releases.
- Remove and discard the old element.
- Install the new coalescing element in reverse order.
- Wash both filter bowls in warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. A light air gun can be used to blow out debris before washing. Wipe down with a clean, dry cloth before reassembly.
- Replace the O-rings on both bowls using the O-rings provided in kit FRP-001. Discard the old O-rings.
- Reassemble each bowl in reverse order of removal — insert the blue plastic bowl into the housing first, then thread the metal outer casing back on clockwise. Hand-tighten only — do not use tools to overtighten the metal casing.
- Reconnect the clear-blue drain tubes to the bottom of each bowl.
Record Service and Return to Service
- Log the replacement date on the filter replacement schedule printed on the face of the filter bracket inside the cabinet. This is the primary method for tracking the next service interval on these models.
- Replace the front cabinet cover.
- Reconnect the unit to the electrical supply and power it on.
- You should hear the air compressor start. The unit will resume nitrogen production automatically.
- Monitor the system through its first pressurization cycle and check around the filter bowls for any sign of leaks at the bowl-to-housing connections.
Proper Cabinet Cleaning (NSF Requirement)
The BrewBlast™ 40PPH and 70CPH are NSF-certified for use in beverage, restaurant, and pub environments. To maintain compliance, the cabinet exterior should be cleaned with a mild detergent on a regular basis.
Pay particular attention to the lower support channel at the base of the cabinet — this area can accumulate dust, debris, and vermin. To clean it:
- Apply an approved kitchen cleaner to a rag or brush.
- Work the rag or brush through the channel openings.
- Keep the channel free of foreign objects, dust, debris, and vermin at all times.
