Overview
If a BeerBlast™ or N2-GEN™ system loses power, nitrogen production stops. The storage tank will continue to supply gas to the beverage lines until pressure drops below the operating threshold — at that point, taps will begin to pour slowly or stop altogether. Use this article to identify and resolve power-related issues.
Symptoms of a Power Issue
- No indicator lights or display on the controller.
- Compressor is not running and no sound from the cabinet.
- Taps begin to pour slowly or produce no flow after a period of time.
- System does not restart after a normal shutdown.
Troubleshooting Procedure
Step 1 — Check the Power Cord and Switch
- Confirm the power cord is fully seated in the wall outlet and in the power entry module on the cabinet.
- Confirm the power switch on the cabinet control panel is in the on position.
- On 1KPH and 3KPH models, the power switch is located on the top-left side of the generator.
- On 7KPH, 14KPH, and 14KPH-HO models, the power switch is located on the upper left side of the cabinet on the control panel.
- If the power cord and switch are both confirmed good but the system still has no power, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2 — Check the Building Circuit Breaker and GFCI
- Check the building circuit breaker panel for a tripped breaker on the circuit supplying the generator. Reset the breaker if tripped.
- If a GFCI outlet is present on the circuit, check whether it has tripped and reset it if needed.
- If the breaker or GFCI trips again immediately after resetting, do not continue to reset it. The circuit may be overloaded or there may be a wiring fault. Remove other loads from the circuit if possible and contact a qualified electrician if the problem persists.
Step 3 — Check the Built-In Circuit Breaker
- Locate the built-in 20A circuit breaker on the power entry module on the cabinet.
- Check whether the breaker has tripped and reset it if needed.
- If the built-in breaker trips repeatedly, do not continue to reset it. Contact South-Tek Systems support for further diagnosis.
Step 4 — Verify Correct Voltage
BeerBlast™ and N2-GEN™ models are available in 110/120VAC and 220/240VAC configurations. Connecting a unit to the wrong voltage will prevent it from operating correctly and may cause damage.
- Check the serial number label on the cabinet. A model number with a "-220" suffix is configured for 220–240VAC only.
- Confirm the wall outlet voltage matches the voltage the unit was ordered for.
- If there is a voltage mismatch, do not attempt to operate the unit. Contact South-Tek Systems support.
Step 5 — Cycle Power After a Fault
On PLC-equipped models (7KPH, 14KPH, 14KPH-HO), a controller fault may prevent the system from restarting normally even after power is restored. If the system has power but the controller is unresponsive or displaying an unexpected state, cycle power by turning the switch off, waiting 30 seconds, and turning it back on. If the system does not return to normal operation after a power cycle, contact South-Tek Systems support.
After Power Is Restored
Once power is restored, the system will restart automatically and begin refilling the storage tank. On PLC-equipped models, the controller will display "Run" as the generator begins producing nitrogen. Allow up to one hour for the storage tank to return to full operating pressure before resuming normal service.
