Overview
The 14KPH-HO requires annual filter replacement at 1,000 run hours or 12 months, whichever comes first. The controller will display a filter alarm when service is due — "FAlm" on TWIX units, "FILtr" on Panasonic units. Environments with higher levels of airborne dust or contaminants may require more frequent changes. The annual filter replacement kit for this model is FRP-005.
The 14KPH-HO has two integrated air compressors, each with its own air intake pre-filter. Both pre-filters must be replaced at every service interval. The particulate and coalescing filters are shared across both compressors and are replaced once per service. All replacement elements and O-rings are included in the FRP-005 kit.
Parts Required
| Item | Part Number | Applies To |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Filter Replacement Kit | FRP-005 | 14KPH-HO only |
Tools Required
Phillips-head screwdriver for particulate element removal. Have a clean dry cloth available for wiping down filter bowls and housings.
Procedure
Step 1 — Power Down and Access the Filters
- Turn off the power switch located on the upper left side of the cabinet on the control panel.
- Allow the system to fully depressurize before proceeding.
- Remove the front cover to gain access to the internal components.
Step 2 — Air Pre-Filters (Two Required)
The 14KPH-HO has two air compressors, each with its own intake pre-filter housing. Both pre-filters must be replaced at every service interval. The pre-filter housings are located on the air intake of each compressor inside the cabinet.
- Locate both pre-filter housings on the two compressor air intakes.
- Remove the first filter cap by twisting it clockwise.
- Pull out the old filter element and set aside for disposal.
- Wipe the inside of the housing with a clean dry cloth.
- Install the new filter element and replace the cap.
- Repeat steps 2 through 5 for the second compressor pre-filter.
Step 3 — Particulate and Coalescing Filters
The particulate filter (5 micron) and coalescing filter (0.1 micron) are located behind the copper coil inside the cabinet. The particulate and coalescing filter housing twists off to allow access to the interior filter element.
- Verify the gauge after the filter bowls reads 0 PSIG before proceeding.
- Unscrew the filter bowls by turning them counter-clockwise.
- Once removed, rinse any debris from the bowls with warm water.
- Dry the bowls thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.
- Replace the old O-rings with the new ones provided in the kit.
- Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the particulate filter element and replace it with the new element from the kit.
- Remove the coalescing element by turning it counter-clockwise by hand. Replace with the new element in reverse order.
- Once both elements have been replaced and the bowls cleaned, reinstall the bowls into their corresponding filter housings. Hand-tighten only — do not use tools to tighten the filter bowls.
Step 4 — Reset the Filter Change Timer
The filter change timer must be reset after every filter replacement. Identify your controller and follow the appropriate reset procedure below.
TWIX Controller (Current — MiniPSA v7 and later)
- Locate the Filter Change Reset button (F2) on the electrical panel.
- Press and hold F2 for 10 seconds.
- The display will return to normal run status, confirming the timer has been reset.
Panasonic FP-e Controller (Older Units)
- If the display shows "LOCK," press and hold the Mode Select Button to unlock the controller.
- Press the Mode Select Button until the System Mode Indicator displays "S" (Switch mode).
- Press and hold Button 0 (Filter Change Reset) for 7 seconds.
- An audible beep and a display of "reSet" confirm the 1,000-hour filter timer has been reset.
Step 5 — Reassemble and Verify
- Replace the front cover on the cabinet.
- Restore power by turning on the power switch. You should hear both air compressors start and the system will resume nitrogen production.
- Check all filter bowl connections for leaks once the system is back up to pressure.
- Verify the filter alarm is no longer displayed on the controller.
