Overview
The 1KPH and 3KPH require annual filter replacement at 1,000 run hours or 12 months, whichever comes first. Environments with higher levels of airborne dust or contaminants may require more frequent changes. The annual filter replacement kit for both models is FRP-001.
There are three filters that must be replaced as part of this service: the air pre-filter on the compressor intake, the particulate filter, and the coalescing filter. All three are included in the FRP-001 kit along with replacement O-rings.
Parts Required
| Item | Part Number | Applies To |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Filter Replacement Kit | FRP-001 | 1KPH, 3KPH |
Tools Required
No special tools are required. Have a clean dry cloth available for wiping down filter bowls and housings.
Procedure
Step 1 — Power Down and Access the Filters
- Turn off the power switch located on the top-left side of the generator.
- Allow the system to fully depressurize before proceeding.
- Remove the front cover by unscrewing the six 10-32 x 1/2" pan head screws.
Step 2 — Air Pre-Filter
The air pre-filter is mounted on the compressor air intake and prevents particles from entering the compressor housing.
- Locate the pre-filter cap on the compressor intake.
- Remove the cap by twisting it clockwise.
- Remove the old filter element.
- Wipe the inside of the filter housing with a clean dry cloth.
- Install the new filter element and replace the cap.
Step 3 — Particulate and Coalescing Filters
The particulate filter (5 micron) and coalescing filter (0.1 micron) are located after the air compressor. Both filters include an auto-drain. The drain tubes are plumbed to the outside of the cabinet.
- Disconnect the clear-blue drain tubes from the bottom of the filter bowls.
- To remove each bowl, turn the metal casing surrounding the blue plastic filter bowl counter-clockwise until it unscrews completely from the filter housing. Then twist slightly and pull the blue plastic bowl downward out of the housing.
- Inspect the bowls. If the drain system has been functioning correctly, the bowls should not contain standing water. If bowls are full of water, inspect the drain lines for blockages before reassembly.
- To remove the particulate filter element, pull the black plastic filter element holder out of the filter bowl, then carefully twist the top and bottom pieces counter-clockwise until the holder pulls apart. Note the condition of the element — if excessively dirty, consider increasing the service interval.
- Remove the coalescing element by turning it counter-clockwise by hand.
- Wash the filter bowls in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. A light air gun may be used to remove debris. Wipe down with a clean dry cloth before reassembly.
- Install the new filter elements.
- Replace all O-rings with the new ones provided in the kit.
- Reinstall the filter bowls in reverse order, ensuring each bowl is fully seated. Tighten the metal casing by hand only — do not use tools to tighten.
- Reconnect the drain tubes.
Step 4 — Log the Service and Reassemble
- Record the filter replacement date on the filter replacement schedule label on the face of the filter bracket inside the cabinet.
- Replace the front cover and secure with the six pan head screws.
- Restore power by turning on the power switch. You should hear the air compressor start and the system will resume nitrogen production.
- Check all filter bowl connections for leaks once the system is back up to pressure.
Proper Cleaning
The 1KPH and 3KPH are NSF certified for beverage, restaurant, and pub environments. Clean the exterior with mild detergent. Pay particular attention to the lower support channel — apply an approved kitchen cleaner using a rag or brush through the channel openings. Keep the channel free from foreign objects, dust, debris, and vermin.
