This article applies to legacy South-Tek Systems N2-BLAST FPS-1750, FPS-3000, and FPS-6000 fire protection nitrogen generators.
The FPS-1750, FPS-3000, and FPS-6000 are legacy N2-BLAST fire protection nitrogen generators designed to provide high-purity nitrogen for fire protection system supervision. These models were used to help reduce corrosion in fire protection piping by replacing oxygen-rich compressed air with nitrogen.
Supported legacy models
- FPS-1750
- FPS-3000
- FPS-6000
What these systems have in common
The FPS-1750, FPS-3000, and FPS-6000 share the same general operating platform and are grouped together in the same legacy manual.
- Wall-mounted cabinet design
- External air compressor requirement
- Membrane-based nitrogen generation
- Air filters and pressure regulator
- Pressure switch for automatic start and stop based on demand
- Safety relief valves
- Internal nitrogen storage tank
- Optional BlastOff leak detection
Typical operating profile
- Nitrogen purity: 98.0% or greater
- Nitrogen storage pressure: up to 80 PSIG
- Cabinet port connections: 1/2" NPT female
- Electrical requirement: 110V / 60Hz / 1 phase with 20 amp breaker
- Compressor requirement: external
- Ambient operating temperature: 40°F to 90°F
How these systems operate
These legacy models use a pressure switch to automatically start and stop nitrogen production based on storage tank demand.
- When the nitrogen storage tank reaches the set pressure, the system pauses nitrogen production.
- When tank pressure falls by approximately 7 to 10 PSIG below set pressure, the system resumes production automatically.
- This allows the system to cycle based on actual nitrogen demand rather than run continuously.
Legacy support note
These are legacy fire protection models. Support documentation remains available to assist with identification, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Availability of specific replacement parts or upgrade paths may vary depending on the exact model and current support status.
Before choosing a manual or procedure
Confirm the exact model number on the unit nameplate before following a procedure or ordering service parts. While the FPS-1750, FPS-3000, and FPS-6000 share a common platform, always verify the exact legacy model before moving forward with support or maintenance decisions.
