This article applies to legacy South-Tek Systems N2-BLAST FPS-650 and FPS-1250 fire protection nitrogen generators.
The FPS-650 and FPS-1250 are legacy N2-BLAST fire protection nitrogen generators designed to provide high-purity nitrogen for fire protection system supervision. These models were used to help reduce corrosion in fire protection piping by replacing oxygen-rich compressed air with nitrogen.
Supported legacy models
- FPS-650
- FPS-1250
What these systems have in common
The FPS-650 and FPS-1250 share the same general operating platform and many of the same core features.
- Integrated oil-free air compressor
- Air filtration inside the cabinet
- Programmable logic controller (PLC)
- Pressure swing adsorption beds
- Safety relief valves
- Internal nitrogen storage tank
- Automatic pressure cut-in and cut-out
- Optional BlastOff leak detection
Model-specific notes
- FPS-650: Wall-mounted or floor-placed compact cabinet design
- FPS-1250: Floor-standing cabinet design
Typical operating profile
- Nitrogen purity: 98.0% or greater
- Nitrogen storage pressure: 55 to 75 PSIG
- Cabinet port connections: 1/2" NPT female
- Electrical requirement: 110-240V / 50-60Hz / 1 phase with 20 amp breaker
- Ambient operating temperature: 40°F to 90°F
How these systems operate
These legacy models operate in two normal states: Run and Standby.
- In Run mode, the unit is producing nitrogen and feeding it to the storage tank.
- The system enters Standby mode when the tank is fully pressurized, typically around 65 to 75 PSIG.
- The system remains in standby until tank pressure falls by approximately 7 to 10 PSIG, then it returns to run mode automatically.
Legacy support note
These are legacy fire protection models. Support documentation remains available to assist with identification, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Availability of specific replacement parts or upgrade paths may vary depending on the exact model and current support status.
Before choosing a manual or procedure
Confirm the exact model number on the unit nameplate before following a procedure or ordering service parts. While the FPS-650 and FPS-1250 are closely related, installation details and cabinet layout differ between the two models.
