This article covers the site conditions, air supply requirements, and electrical requirements for the N2-GEN™ CPi-Plus & CPx-Plus Series. Requirements are identical to the standard CPi & CPx Series with one exception: the ambient temperature ceiling is lower for CPi-Plus models (integral compressor). Review the general arrangement drawing included with your unit for model-specific connection details.
Air Supply Requirements — CPx-Plus Models Only
| Parameter | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Supply Temperature | 40°F – 100°F (4°C – 38°C) |
| Pressure Dew Point | 40°F (4°C) or lower |
| Inlet Pressure | 100 PSIG minimum / 125 PSIG maximum (unless otherwise configured) |
The inlet pressure must be set to the design air-in pressure specified for your unit to meet the rated purity and production. Operating at pressures above or below the design point will cause nitrogen production and purity to fall outside specification. Air consumption depends on the rated nitrogen purity and flow rate — contact South-Tek Systems for unit-specific details.
Auxiliary equipment — including air dryers and pressure vessels — must be correctly sized to the generator to meet full design specifications.
Additional Piping
All air supply piping between the compressor and the generator is supplied and installed by the customer. Piping must be capable of delivering the maximum feed air flow rate at the required pressure at the generator inlet. The maximum feed air flow rate can be up to three times the specified average — all South-Tek flow rate references are average unless otherwise noted. If the piping run from the air receiver exceeds 50 feet, consult a piping contractor to confirm appropriate line sizing.
Generator exhaust may be vented outside the building. Any additional exhaust piping used must be the same diameter or larger than the exhaust piping supplied with the generator. For exhaust piping runs exceeding 10 feet, consult a piping contractor to keep pressure drop below 0.5 PSIG. Exhaust piping should be as short and unrestricted as possible.
Electrical Requirements
| Parameter | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Supply Voltage | 110–220V / 50–60 Hz / 1 Phase |
| Overcurrent Protection | 20A (built-in) |
| Power Connection | Standard 3-prong US power cord (unless otherwise specified) |
| Certification | UL 508A ICP |
Electrical schematics are available upon request. Contact South-Tek Systems to obtain a copy for your unit.
Site Specifications
| Model | Ambient Temperature Range |
|---|---|
| 2CPi-Plus, 4CPi-Plus (integral compressor) | 40°F – 85°F (4°C – 29°C) |
| 2CPx-Plus, 4CPx-Plus (external compressor) | 40°F – 90°F (4°C – 32°C) |
- Install in a nonhazardous indoor location unless the unit was specifically designed for other environments.
- Adequate space must be provided around the generator for access and routine maintenance.
- Ensure sufficient space adjacent to the unit for the air receiver and nitrogen product receiver skid where applicable.
- If a unit with an optional oxygen analyzer is stored for more than one month before installation, the oxygen fuel cell should be removed, the port taped off, and the cell stored separately in a controlled environment to preserve sensor life.
