This article covers the site conditions, air supply requirements, and electrical requirements that must be satisfied before installing an N2-GEN™ CPi & CPx Series generator. Review the general arrangement drawing included with your unit for model-specific connection details.
Air Supply Requirements — CPx Models Only
The incoming compressed air supply must meet all of the following conditions:
| Parameter | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Supply Temperature | 40°F – 100°F (4°C – 38°C) |
| Pressure Dew Point | 40°F (4°C) or lower |
| Inlet Pressure | 100 PSIG minimum / 125 PSIG maximum (unless otherwise configured) |
The incoming air pressure must be set to the design air-in pressure specified for your unit in order to meet the rated purity and nitrogen production. Operating at pressures above or below the design point will result in nitrogen production and purity above or below specification. Contact South-Tek Systems if you are unsure of the design pressure for your unit.
Auxiliary equipment — including air dryers and pressure vessels — must be correctly sized to the generator to meet the full design specification. Air consumption depends on the rated nitrogen purity and flow rate; contact South-Tek Systems for unit-specific details.
Additional Piping
All air supply piping between the compressor and the generator is supplied and installed by the customer. The piping must be capable of delivering the maximum feed air flow rate at the required pressure measured at the generator inlet. The maximum feed air flow rate can be up to three times the average specified flow rate — all flow rate references in South-Tek documentation are average unless otherwise noted.
If the piping run from the air receiver to the generator exceeds 50 feet, consult a piping contractor to confirm the appropriate line size for maintaining required flow and pressure at the generator inlet.
Electrical Requirements
| Parameter | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Supply Voltage | 110–220V / 50–60 Hz / 1 Phase |
| Overcurrent Protection | 20A (built-in) |
| Power Connection | Standard 3-prong US power cord (unless otherwise specified) |
| Certification | UL 508A ICP |
Electrical schematics are available upon request. Contact South-Tek Systems to obtain a copy for your unit.
Site Specifications
- Install in a nonhazardous indoor location. Units specifically designed for other environments will be noted in the unit documentation.
- Ambient temperature must remain between 40°F and 90°F (4°C – 32°C) at all times during operation.
- Provide adequate space around the generator for access and routine maintenance.
- Where applicable, ensure sufficient space for an air receiver and nitrogen product receiver skid adjacent to the unit.
